Well as the author of this site, let me
mention how much I love boating. I hope it is obvious. I
remember when I was a kid about 7 or 8, my father took my cousins
and I to the YMCA to go swimming. Everyone else was playing in
the deep side of the pool and I had to stay in shallow. After
that, I said that will never happen again and I learned how to swim
in the summers at Julian High School. When I got to high
school at Corliss, I joined the swim team and for four years I spent
a lot of time in the water. So that was the beginning of my
love for the water. By time I went to college down at SIUC, I
took sailing one summer.
For
me the water is my serenity. There is nothing like it.
Many of my friends have invested in big 4x4 trucks or BMW
cars. That's good for them but it can't beat the joy of
sitting out on the lake about 5 miles looking at the Chicago Skyline
and drinking a good tropical drink. No matter what it takes, I
will keep my boat and stay out on the water.
In
addition to learning how to sail in college, I also learned how to
ride a motorcycle. I guess I am one of those typical guys who
rode motorcycles in their youth and then gave it up for the family
only to get back into it once you reach that middle age. I got
back into riding motorcycles a couple of years ago. Now I am a
Harley rider. Yes, I purchased my very first Harley Road Glide
in summer 2005. Oh how I love that bike. It rides smooth
and lights up like a Christmas tree. So don't be surprised to
see a few articles in the future about my motorcycle riding
adventures on my boating web site.
Professionally
I have been in the broadcast business for over XX years. No I
am not going to list the number of years as it is only a harsh
reminder that I am getting older. Just know that I have been
in the business for many years and I am good at what I
do. See the pictures of the family below.
Safe
Seas to All,
Captain Mike.
